In a career spanning more than 30 years, Ergys Koni has performed in nearly 4,000 concerts. From 2007 to 2015 he was a senior member of the first violin section of The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra where in 2014 he successfully
auditioned for the post of Concertmaster. He was also Concertmaster for the renowned Folkwang Kammer Orchestra in Germany and collaborated with the Rotterdam Philharmonic in Holland. During his career, Ergys has performed under the batons of world famous conductors Sir Simon Rattle, Valery Gergiev, Riccardo Chailly, Kees Bakels and many others.
A passionate educator, Ergys hails from Albania and graduated Summa cum Laude with a Masters Degree from the Royal Conservatory of Music in the Hague in 2001. In addition to his successful career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player he has been teaching the violin for over 25 years.
At the British Academy of Performing Arts, (BAPA) Ergys is responsible for ensuring that all string lessons are of the highest quality and taught to our exacting standards and he will also continue to act as a mentor and guide to our other string tutors. He is extremely excited to be part of the senior BAPA team and is looking forward to instilling our “Bringing Performance to Life!” motto to a new generation of string players.
