Malaysian born Cheah Mun Wei is a graduate of the prestigious Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK having started to learn the piano at the age of five.
Upon graduation from high school, she enrolled into the diploma course at Yamaha Academy of Arts and Music, and chose to major in Piano Performance. During he 2 year course, she was involved in many performances in and outside of the academy. She found an interest in classical contemporary music under the tutelage of Malaysian pianist and composer Adeline Wong and won the Patron Award at the Malaysian Youth Festival in 2007.
Following her acceptance to Birmingham Conservatoire, she continued her piano studies under the tutelage of John Thwaites and Robert Markham. She was awarded 1 st place for the Open Recital category at the 2011 Birmingham Music Festival. She currently resides in Kuala Lumpur and is active as a pianist and music educator.
