Head of Strings, Ergys Koni, acclaimed as probably the finest violinist currently resident in Malaysia. A former member of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, he successfully auditioned for the post of Concertmaster in 2014. Ergys oversees all BAPA tutors delivering individual tuition in Violin, Viola, Cello & Double Bass. Recent Royal Birmingham Conservatoire graduate Ooi Tek Yi and other former members of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra complete our violin faculty with Aamil Sulaiman, the American Cello Virtuoso teaching lower strings.
Shuenda Wong, the virtuoso Malaysian pianist is an ambassador for Trinity College London and heads up our BAPA piano team. Cheah Mun Wei, from Birmingham Conservatoire and the renowned Valerie Khoo( formerly Gligorov) are also among our highly accomplished piano tutors who will develop your piano skills whether you are a beginner or an advanced player.
Headed by the Principal Paul M Baker, our brass department is one of the busiest in Malaysia with several students going on to study music overseas.
Department Flute, Oboe, Clarinet & Saxophone are all available at BAPA currently led by Aabid Arafin, Nelson Wong and Brian Choong.
Whether you want to learn to sing Opera or Pop, our outstanding vocal team will be your mentors. Headed by former Paris Opera star and coach of TV3’s Mentor programme, Maja Pavlovska will help you sing your way to stardom.
Take dancing and singing, add a dash of acting and you have Musical Theatre. Combining all three disciplines, our one year course culminates in a professional West End/Broadway show in which you may find yourself working alongside seasoned professionals. Headed by Kerry-Ann Khoo, the well-known local actress and graduate of the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, our Musical Theatre programme is the most integrated and unique course of its kind in Malaysia. There are groups from 6 years in Musical Theatre: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.
Contemporary, Modern, Irish, Ballet, (Scottish) Contemporary Dance uses all the basic techniques of other dance forms such as ballet, modern, hip-hop and jazz and acclaimed dancer and choreographer Kenny Shim from the world-renowned Trinity Laban Dance School in London will show you how to use your body to become a great dancer in his classes.
For a broader dance base Kerry-Ann Khoo from the Melbourne Dance School will introduce you to jazz, hip-hop and modern. Denise Yap and Pei Ern complete the line up of highly experienced dance teachers in Tap and Ballet respectively.
This globally known series of classes prepares the very young for their future musical journey by developing their rhythm, pitch and motor skills. All Musikgarten instructors undergo a rigorous training programme gaining the skills to teach babies just a few weeks old right up to group keyboard classes for 6 – 9 year olds. For babies, toddlers and young children up to 9 years old.
